MEET LIZ MORRIS

Elizabeth (Liz) Morris embraces the value of citizenship and has not only applied it to her life but is a model of servant leadership. Her “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach to public service has impacted thousands of young lives in the South Carolina and well beyond.

She attended public schools in Aiken County and graduated from Ridge Spring-Monetta High School in 1987. The same year, she joined the United States Armed Forces (National Guard) to assist with college tuition and received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve in 1991. She attended the University of South Carolina – Aiken, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice and Military Science. Then in 2001, she completed studies at Central Michigan University at Fort Gordon, GA, with a Master of Science Degree in Administration.

Her career path has included positions with the South Carolina Department of Corrections working with youthful offenders as a probation/parole officer and later as the Director of Community Programs for Aiken County. She also worked for South Carolina Mentor as a recruiter/supervisor blessing the lives of children by finding homes and good parents to care for them. Morris joined Clemson University’s Youth Learning Institute (YLI) as a Regional Youth Advocate responsible for developing partnerships with organizations around the state to create and support programs that respond to the needs of children, families, and communities. She recently returned to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice as the Manager for the Career Readiness Center. She is also a national trainer for One Circle Foundation.

Above all her accomplishments and experiences, Morris is most grateful for her faith and family. She and her husband, Daniel, are the parents of three wonderful young adults — Daniel, Robert, and Kimberly. The entire family maintains membership at Second Baptist Church in Aiken.
